Leah moved to North Dakota when she was 12 years old and has traveled from the Red River Valley to the badlands and many places in between. She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. She's always had a passion for writing and has participated in novel writing challenges such as NaNoWriMo multiple times. Her favorite part about this job is recognizing small businesses that deserve a boost and seeing the positive affect her articles can have on their traffic, especially in rural areas that might have otherwise gone overlooked.
October is almost here and that means Halloween is, too. What better way to experience the chills and thrills of the season than a haunted house? Take it up a notch and enter North Dakota’s terrifying Haunted Fort at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park and you’ll be in for a spooktastic experience.
Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park is a beautiful, historically rich park near Mandan, North Dakota for most of the year...
... but on October nights, it becomes the spooktacular Haunted Fort! It's one of the best haunted house destinations in the entire state, and it's back for 2019.
You're invited to experience the creepy, thrilling fort on Friday and Saturday nights throughout October and a special one-night-only event on November 2nd called Darkness Unleashed. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time with a variety of options depending on what you want to do there.
Take a walk through the scary hallways or kick it up a notch with the Ultimate FEAR Experience for an extra fee. There is even a Zombie Battlefield Experience for those who want that extra active event with paintballs.
If you're looking for something more family-friendly, fear not - the Haunted Fort has that, too. There will be a family Spook-less Night on October 5th and their annual Halloween Kids Bash on October 20th, providing fun activities for kids of all ages.
