Leah moved to North Dakota when she was 12 years old and has traveled from the Red River Valley to the badlands and many places in between. She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. Her favorite part about this job is recognizing small businesses that deserve a boost and seeing the positive affect her articles can have on their traffic, especially in rural areas that might have otherwise gone overlooked.
Do you feel the need to get out into nature for a few days and get some fresh air but don’t really feel like the whole sleeping on the ground thing? Pitching a tent and building a fire can be a hassle for some and not everyone has a big RV or camper to circumvent that. Even if you absolutely despise camping, there are still places in North Dakota you can go to stretch your legs, refresh yourself, and relax in luxury. From cabins to yurts, here are some comfortable places to camp that even a city slicker would love:
Camp out right against the steep, colorful walls of the badlands at the Wannagan Creek Cabins. Located near the scenic town of Medora, they'll put you right in a spot that's surrounded by gorgeous scenery while allowing you to sleep in comfort. The cabins all have full kitchens, two bedrooms, living rooms with TV, bathrooms, and have heat and A/C. It's basically like staying in a hotel suite but even better. Sit outside on one of the porches and gaze over the beauty of the badlands and you definitely won't regret staying here.

Enjoy the serenity of an untouched stretch of the Missouri River at Cross Ranch State Park. You could camp under the stars if you wanted to, but this park also has plenty of accommodations for those who prefer otherwise. Cabins like the York Cabin have a full kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, living room, heat, and A/C, while also providing you with a grill and fire ring so you can still get some of that authentic camping experience. There are other cabins available and even a yurt. The Pretty Point Yurt has everything the York Cabin has but in a permanent tent. Now that's camping in style!

The truly incredible Lake Metigoshe State Park is a getaway everyone should want to take. Not only is the area breathtakingly gorgeous and serene, it also has some of the best camping in the state. The park has quite a few cabins available for all levels of comfort. You could stay at the Osprey Cabin, a more primitive cabin that can only be hiked or biked to. Or stay at the Cormorant Cabin with everything you need but running water. Need more than that? The Loon Lodge, Slemmen Lodge, and White Pelican Cabin all come fully equipped with kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and more.

You can stay at an entire house, called the Bjone House, which is more than 100 years old and fully equipped to accommodate all your needs. There is also, of course, cabins, two luxurious yurts, and campgrounds.
