Leah moved to North Dakota when she was 12 years old and has traveled from the Red River Valley to the badlands and many places in between. She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. She's always had a passion for writing and has participated in novel writing challenges such as NaNoWriMo multiple times. Her favorite part about this job is recognizing small businesses that deserve a boost and seeing the positive affect her articles can have on their traffic, especially in rural areas that might have otherwise gone overlooked.
Cold got you down? Did recent blizzards have you longing for spring? North Dakotans are used to harsh winters but that doesn’t mean we don’t get sick of the season after a while. No worries – we also know how to make the most of them and more importantly make them fun! North Dakota’s annual Frostival is coming up for 2019 and you won’t want to miss it. Here’s what is in store this year:
Head "north of normal" to Fargo, North Dakota for the annual Frostival. This event is all about embracing the cold and having fun.
The event lasts for two days, starting on Friday, January 25, 2019 and ending Saturday, January 26, 2019. Friday is the opening kick-off in downtown Fargo with things like carriage rides and a hot cocoa cook-off.
Saturday is when all the outdoor fun happens. Throughout this day there are fun activities for all ages, including events part of the North of Normal Games.
Cardboard sled races is one of the games. You can make your own homemade cardboard sled to race others. It's extra fun if you theme the sled and yourself after something!
If chilly sports aren't your thing, you can also take part in the snow sculpture building event. Whether you make a huge viking sculpture or an igloo, it's fun for all.
If you get a little too frosty, you can warm up with a bowl of chili or a bit of time in a sauna. There's so much more to do during the Frostival that we haven't even mentioned here - you'll have to go check it out yourself!
