If you consider yourself a carnivore type, you’ll love the steaks at this unusual fort restaurant in North Dakota. Yes, you read that right – a fort restaurant! Built to look like one of the early forts on the plains from the days of the settlers, this particular spot is certainly unique. That’s not all they have – beyond the quirky appearance, they also have some unique residents, a gift shop, and some of the tastiest steaks you’ll ever try.
When visiting Jamestown, North Dakota for the first time, a stop by the World's Largest Buffalo, Buffalo Museum, and Frontier Town is pretty much a must.
Right next to all of those attractions is an unusual little spot with a fort and a chuckwagon-shaped building that pay homage to the early settlers of North Dakota.
The fort looks right out of the 1800s, but it's actually a replica. Still, it holds a special kind of rustic charm. Head inside the Frontier Fort and you'll be greeted with the delicious smell of freshly-grilled steaks.
The Frontier Fort is a bar & grill, campground, and gift shop all in one. It may sound like a tourist trap, but their steaks, ribs, and burgers have been called the best of the best.
Speaking of buffalo (or bison), don't forget to check out their gift shop for some fun bison-themed souvenirs. They have everything from figurines to bison hats.
You can also see bison up close and personal, right by the restaurant! How many other restaurants can say the same? Frontier Fort is definitely one-of-a-kind.
