She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. Her favorite part about this job is recognizing small businesses that deserve a boost and seeing the positive affect her articles can have on their traffic, especially in rural areas that might have otherwise gone overlooked.
Fall colors are in full force across North Dakota, and you can see them for yourself on this amazing historic bridge. There is no other bridge like it in the state and it is open as a walking trail with incredible views. Head over there before all the leaves have fallen, and don’t forget your camera for some wonderful shots.
The Fairview Lift Bridge is an iconic historic bridge in North Dakota located near the small town of Cartwright. It is surrounded by gorgeous fall colors.
The bridge was originally made as a railroad bridge but wasn't used, so today it is a historical site with a footpath over it that anyone can take and enjoy.
The bridge spans over the Yellowstone River and has incredible sights. Trees in an array of colors fill the nooks and crannies of the bluffs surrounding the river.
With such amazing views of the water and colors, the Fairview Bridge is certainly a great spot to visit during the season. Plus, it's connected to a public park that would be perfect for a picnic.
The Fairview Bridge is also notable for having the Cartwright tunnel at its other end. The tunnel is the only completed railroad tunnel in all of North Dakota and, although never used, people enjoy walking through its dark passage to the other side today.
The bridge is already iconic and scenic itself, but with fall colors surrounding it, it becomes even more worth visiting. You'll definitely want to check it out before this short season is over again.
The Fairview Lift Bridge is free to visit for anyone, and the walkway across and park are open for visitors at any time. Have you ever visited the bridge and tunnel yourself?
North Dakota has quite a few neat, sometimes lesser-known bridges around the state. There’s even a “city of bridges” you can tour. Learn more about it here.
