Head to central North Dakota to find this picturesque small town that has it all: Washburn.
Lewis and Clark spent a lot of time in Washburn during their expeditions and today you can learn about it in the town by visiting the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.
You can also check out the unique and beautiful recreation of Fort Mandan, where they spent quite a bit of time, and feel like you're stepping back into history.
History isn't the only thing Washburn has, it also has everything a small town needs and then some. This even includes a spot like no other, Java Rose. It is both a coffee shop and a florist, so you can drink a warm cup of java while being surrounded by flowers.
Along with plenty of other local businesses, Washburn has a prime location along the Missouri River. A fabulous way to experience the outdoors of the area is at the Cross Ranch State Park, right by Washburn, and possibly even renting one of their unique yurts for out-of-this-world camping.
Washburn truly is a one-of-a-kind, perfect small town in North Dakota. The restaurants, shops, historic sites, and scenery all come together to create a delightful place to visit or live without the hustle and bustle of a bigger city. You can learn more about Washburn here.
