Leah moved to North Dakota when she was 12 years old and has traveled from the Red River Valley to the badlands and many places in between. She loves small-town life and currently enjoys living on a small farm in the ND prairie. She's always had a passion for writing and has participated in novel writing challenges such as NaNoWriMo multiple times. Her favorite part about this job is recognizing small businesses that deserve a boost and seeing the positive affect her articles can have on their traffic, especially in rural areas that might have otherwise gone overlooked.
One of the most unique and colorful experiences you can have in North Dakota is coming up at the end of summer and you’ll want to start making your plans now. The mesmerizing Medora Hot Air Balloon Rally is going on for its 15th year and you don’t want to miss it. There is not enough words to describe how beautiful this festival is, and the fun things you can experience while you are there makes it well worth the trip. Take a look for yourself as to what is in store:
The Medora Hot Air Balloon Rally is one of the most colorful experiences you can have in North Dakota. Not only will you be seeing bright hot air balloons of many colors, but you'll also be seeing them drift through the colorful painted canyons of the badlands.
This festival isn't only for hot air balloons - it is also partly the annual Badlands Kite Fest. The prairie skies will be even more decorated with fun, bright kites and you can bring your own to take part.
Throughout the weekend you can explore the Theodore Roosevelt National Park South Unit and watch as the huge, mesmerizing balloons lazily float by overhead.
The Medora Hot Air Balloon Rally is a great opportunity to experience the fun town, the one-of-a-kind scenery, hot air balloons, and kites, all in one weekend. There isn't another experience out there quite like it, and it only happens once a year!
