The Little Known Cave In North Carolina That Everyone Should Explore At Least Once
When most people (tourists and residents alike) visit North Carolina’s famous Hanging Rock State Park, caves aren’t at the forefront of their mind. The park is widely known for the cliff locations found within that offer far-reaching views of the surrounding area. The mountain cliffs found here are part of the easternmost mountains in the state, the Sauratown Mountains, as opposed to the Blue Ridge Mountains found farther west.
Hanging Rock State Park is located at 1790 Hanging Rock Park Rd., Danbury, NC 27016. The park opens daily at 7:00 a.m. and closing times vary by season. Closing times are Dec., Jan., and Feb 7:00 p.m., Mar., Apr., and Oct. 9:00 p.m.; May through Sept 10:00 p.m., and Nov. at 8:00 p.m. The park’s visitor center is open daily 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Admission is free.
