There are more than a few things you just wouldn’t expect to find in rural North Carolina and a replica of the house in which Mike Myers, the slasher in the movie “Halloween,” lived may just top the list. The “Halloween” movies were set in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois, but one North Carolina resident replays scenes from the horror film every day of his life – because he lives in a house he designed and built to be an exact replica of the house from the movie, at least from the exterior views.
If you weren't entirely familiar with the movie or with the home of Mike Myers in the 1978 box office hit, "Halloween," you may think The Myers House is just an ordinary farmhouse. But you'd be wrong.
When Capterton was building his dream house, he labored over getting the exterior of his new home to perfectly match the exterior of the house in the movies. The interior, however is modified a great deal, since the late 1800s farmhouse from the movie was lacking some necessary elements Caperton wanted in his new home.
The answer is yes, but you need to attend one of the special events or make an appointment. The house is located on five acres of private property and, well... you don't want to go wandering around in these woods — do you?
The good news is that Caperton hosts special events throughout the year. (You can see a list of those here.) And during his annual Halloween bash, visitors are even allowed inside his humble and spooky abode.
Caperton, er... Myers, always goes a bit overboard with the Halloween decor, including a monument to the sister Myers murdered (on Halloween night!) in the first "Halloween" movie before being sent off to the insane asylum — and subsequently escaping.
Movie fans and Caperton fans alike flock to the annual event, so bookmark his website now and put a reminder in your calendar to check it periodically for available tickets.
