You could say Sugar Island is hidden in plain sight. The store resides in the middle of a shopping plaza called The Corner, found right on North Topsail Drive in Surf City. The sign out front reads: Sugar Island - Bakery & Supplies.
And while that's absolutely true, it's also an epic understatement. Take a step inside to discover a bookstore and bakery beyond your wildest imagination. We'll start with the baked goods...
You can always expect to find gourmet-quality baked goods. Scones, muffins, cookies, brownies, pies, and more are aplenty so be sure to bring your sweet tooth along on this adventure.
Coffee anyone? Coffee, tea, espresso, smoothies, sodas, and more pair perfectly with any of the baked goods from the cases. But wait... Sugar Island, on their own website, describes itself as a new and used bookstore. So where are the books?
