Take a step back in time to a period before cell phones and the all-knowing Internet – to a time when families just hung out together and going out to eat on a Friday or Saturday night meant no one had their nose glued to a screen. Remember those days?! You can relive them every single weekend just outside of the small town of Granite Falls, North Carolina.
It's here, that forty years ago, Sims Country Bar B Que first opened and the locals and folks from neighboring towns could look forward to a hoedown every weekend featuring Blue Grass, BBQ, and Square Dancing. After four decades, that tradition lives on at this restaurant and music hall.
And every Friday and Saturday night the lights go up for some good, old-fashioned fun on the farm — a property that's been in the same family since before the Civil War.
The family-oriented event is a non-alcoholic affair and perfect for introducing the smallest members of the family to square dancing, bluegrass music, and tasty Texas BBQ.
In addition to the pit-cooked meats, the sides are plentiful on the buffet. The baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread fritters, and homemade pickles are a must.
Sims Country Bar B Que is located just 70 miles northwest of Charlotte, 90 miles east of Asheville, and 75 miles southwest of Winston Salem. The buffet opens at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and the live music and square dancing/clogging begins at 7 p.m. on those nights. Line dancing takes place when the band is on break.
