Escape the realities of life and take an adventurous journey through a fairy garden in NC. Want to sneak in a trip to a fantastic garden while also keeping the little ones in the family entertained? Then go check out the fairy houses and the fairies in North Carolina found only at Bullington Gardens in Hendersonville.
The Fairy Trail is quickly becoming the go-to spot for children and adults alike at Bullington Gardens. There are many who consider this to be the best of the North Carolina fairy gardens. We would have to agree and it is easy to see why once you step into this beautiful garden.
Although this free garden features 11 different gardens spread over 12 acres, it's the Fairy Trail you'll want to hit first. (And that's mainly so you can go again after you tour the other 10 gardens!) With so much variety it is easy to see why this is one of the best gardens in North Carolina.
Each year, Bullington closes the Fairy Trail temporarily in the off-season and revamps the cute fairy settings found along the trail.
The whole trail is designed with intentionality and attention to detail. Guests will be able to marvel at these carefully created tiny houses and dwellings. The garden does a good job of selling the story and furthering the fantasy by claiming the fairies created this village.

Your walk along the trail will include enchanting fairy houses, most using the natural flora enhanced with home and park details.
Have you ever been to a fairy garden before? The use of natural resources and clever design come together in an amazing creative blend that is truly a feast for your eyes.
Fairy doors are an integral part of the Fairy Trail. And while the urge may hit you to open each and every one of them, please open only the ones designated as interactive. (The trail has a very distinct set of rules you'll find posted at the entrance.)
The rules are put in place to protect the delicate ecosystem that the fairies thrive off of so please be respectful and follow the rules when you visit.
In 2021, the Ivy Patch Fun Park was added, kicking up a bit of carnival whimsy along the Fairy Trail. It comes complete with everything but the smell of corn dogs, popcorn, and the sound of carnival music. This place is meant to evoke the imagination of both children and kids at heart so just picture yourself wandering through this whimsical place and putting yourself in the fairy's slippers.
It makes us wonder and get very excited about any future additions!
As noted, touring the Fairy Trail and any part of Bullington Gardens is absolutely free. But donations are greatly appreciated! When you are looking for gardens in NC this is one you should make sure gets put on your list.
