Each offering has unique ways to celebrate the New River, which ironically is one of the oldest rivers in the world. And speaking of old, a couple of historic stops have been included on one of the prettiest joyrides in North Carolina.

Twenty-six miles of the South Fork New River was declared a National Scenic River in 1976 by the federal government. And in 1977, North Carolina established the New River State Park to help protect the river’s natural resources and retain its beauty.
