The adventure is approximately three miles, and carries you along the Valley River, one of the two rivers that run through Murphy. You'll pass through historic areas along both paved and gravel footpaths.
Additionally, you'll encounter a few boardwalks and short observation decks along the way; all the while admiring the sights and the sounds of the gently moving Valley River.

The trail begins at the end of Konehete Park and winds its way all the way around the western peninsula of the town.

You'll find plenty of places to stop and reflect along the way, whether it's on one of those picturesque footbridges or a quiet bench.
The trail makes its way from start to finish at the historic L & N Depot next to the Hiwassee Bridge.

But not before you get to cross under an old railroad trestle!

The historic L&N Depot, circa 1887, was the meeting place of the Southern and the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. Several historic rail cars are on display at the site. Check them out, and then head back the way you came so you can double your pleasure with a repeat look at this beautiful walk along the water in downtown Murphy.
