The Historic Waterfront Trail In North Carolina That Is An Adventurer's Dream
North Carolina is an ideal place for people who love all four seasons – and for people who just love to get outside and play. Whether it’s downhill skiing, taking a dip in the Atlantic or a waterfall swimming hole, or hiking along the many trails that likely number well into the thousands in the Tar Heel State, outdoor enthusiasts love it here – and for good reason: there is a lot to do!

The historic L&N Depot, circa 1887, was the meeting place of the Southern and the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. Several historic rail cars are on display at the site. Check them out, and then head back the way you came so you can double your pleasure with a repeat look at this beautiful walk along the water in downtown Murphy.
The Murphy River Walk and Canoe Trails are under the stewardship of the River Walk Heritage Partners. For a map of the River Walk, canoe trails and parking lots, see this link. The River Walk is open from dawn to dusk and admission is free. If you wish to donate, see this link on the official website for Heritage Partners.
