North Carolina is home to a variety of unique activities and attractions. Ever wanted to have an entire island all to yourself? You may be surprised to learn that you can rent an entire island in the Tar Heel State. It’s not the Taj Mahal, if that’s what’s you’re thinking. But it is pretty amazing! And for one night (or more, if you like) it can be all yours!
Copperhead Island is a 14 acre oasis located on Lake Wylie just south of Charlotte and it's prime real estate with access to one of the best little lakes in the state.
The island is owned and maintained by Mecklenburg County Parks and hosts a variety of trails through the 14 acres. In fact, a trail leads from the mainland parking area over to the island. If you rent the entire thing, you'll be able to bring a maximum of three vehicles over on the island. Everyone else gets to park in the mainland parking lot and take the footpath.
If you're planning a get together (think reunions or birthday parties) then Copperhead Island has you covered. An 80-person picnic shelter is available, along with facilities, electric and water, and a beach volleyball court.
It's hard to imagine we've made it this far without knowing about this secret little island for rent just outside the Queen City, but now that you know... you'll want to reserve the island for an event of your own.
