Since we saw immense interest in our first salt cave article , we thought – why not profile all of the salt caves throughout North Carolina? While still a fairly new concept to North Carolina, it seems you can find a salt cave to do some rejuvenating and relaxing in no matter where you are in the state. Ready to breathe easy?
1. Respira Vita Salt & Sauna, Matthews
This family owned and operated spa seeks to relax you in different ways through salt therapy (Halotherapy), full-spectrum infrared sauna, thermal massage bed, energy therapy (Reiki), and licensed massage. If you're wondering, respira vita means 'to breathe life.' The Italian presence in the name hints at the long history of salt and sauna therapy, from the Greeks to the Romans. Here, you'll get a truly unique way to relax.
2. Infinity Salt Rooms, Charlotte
Infinity Salt Rooms specifically focuses on allowing guests to breathe easier, clear out toxins they've accumulated, and see improvements in their skin. The cool salt rooms are the perfect relaxing environment while finely ground, micro-sized salt is dispersed through the negatively ionized salt room through a state of-the-art halo-generator. Sound complicated? Well, luckily all you have to do is sit back, relax and take it all in. After your calming session stop by the shop and purchase a salt lamp of your own.
3. Skin Sense, Raleigh
Skin Sense offers a number of spa and day therapies to help you relax. Treatments include full body massage, face massage, manicures, pedicures, and of course a Himalayan salt cave. There's even a salt cave yoga class for extra rejuvenation.
4. OM Spa Chiropractic & Wellness, Charlotte
OM is a bit different than most of these on the list as it offers chiropractic services on top of a number of others that include halotherapy (salt therapy). This state-of-the-art wellness spa doesn't dial down on the fancy factor, but sometimes a splurge is worth it. There's a zen lounge to initially set your mind at ease with a roaring fire and tranquil music, then you can choose from a number of different spa treatments. If you want to try something without splurging, check their
social media and
website as they feature specials weekly.
5. The Salt Spa of Asheville & Himalayan Salt Cave Sanctuary
The Himalayan Salt Cave Sanctuary here is first class and a wildly unique experience. There's also Blisstime - a combination of massage and far infrared salt bed all offered in the Himalayan salt well-being room. The Himalayan salt cave here was hand-built in 2011, making it the first in North Carolina.
6. Asheville Salt Cave & Spa
Located in downtown Asheville, this particular cave was spotlighted in one of our
feature articles and was immensely popular...it seems everyone is looking for a little salt cave healing and therapy. As the only salt cave in the US made of all natural materials, the healing power here is real. The salt was transported from salt mines in Poland and is over 250 million years old. The salt cave offers 45-minute sessions that let you sit back and recline in relaxing chairs to take it all in.
I’m ready for some complete relaxation – salt cave style! Have you visited any of these or plan to now?
