Hiding in Mooresville is an amazing, 25 foot deep natural pool filled with beautiful sapphire water. Located in a quarry, this breathtaking attraction seems almost too amazing to be open to the public, but it is – and even better, you can take a dip in it all summer long.
The Quarry at Carrigan Farms is a hidden destination not too many know about. At 25 feet deep, the quarry derives from natural, spring fed body of water. In the 1960s the quarry was mined for granite stone later used for the construction of Interstate 77.
Once the spring was discovered, the quarry became a favorite destination for an afternoon dip on a hot summer today. Carrigan Farms hosts company events, picnics, and public and private swims at the quarry.
During the summer, during the open swims, many flock to the quarry for a unique place to cool off. North Carolinians indeed love a good swimming hole, but this one is steps above the rest.
Aside from summertime swims, the quarry also serves as a beautiful backdrop for weddings, parties, and private events.
Swimmers can enter the quarry by jumping off rocks positioned in several locations or access it through the zero entry beach. Due to how deep the quarry is, potential swimmers must pass a swim test or wear a life jacket.
Even if you're just there to enjoy the view, there are many prime locations to spend a nice day.
Adventurous or not, swimming in a quarry is a unique, one-of-a-kind experience most of us have yet to have.
The open swim times are announced on social media or the website. The next upcoming open swim will take place Memorial Day weekend then every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 13th-August 24th. Admission to the quarry is $12 per person.
