Whether celebrating the end of the growing season, or chowing down on regional fare like Livermush, the annual festivals in North Carolina are a heaping handful of fun. Among the many things North Carolinians know how to do (and do well!) is throw a party. And this is one the entire family will love.
The 14th annual PirateFest promises to delight and entertain with two full days of swashbuckling fun in Uptown Greenville.
It's here that pirates of all ages will converge on the banks of the Tar River (and eight city blocks in Uptown) for a jolly good time that includes some seriously fun events.
Don your best pirate attire to compete in the annual costume contest. It's open to pirates of all ages. (Plus, it's just fun to walk around in your pirate gear.)
There is plenty to keep you occupied all weekend, including free musical entertainment both days.
Don't miss the pirate encampment where the guests of honor (the pirates!) will actually be sleeping for the weekend.
The little pirates in your family will enjoy the carnival rides on Friday and Saturday.
The street fair will feature artisans and craftspeople from all over the country.
And various food vendors will be on hand to dole out some pirate grub for you and your mateys.
The annual PirateFest in Uptown Greenville is always an exciting event. You just never know what you'll see — including a mermaid on stilts!
Or a real mermaid in a tank full of water!
The annual PirateFest in Greenville, North Carolina is set for April 13-14, 2018. Among the featured exhibitions are pirate sword fighting and a BMX show.
