Although North Carolina is home to many long-standing eating establishments, the oldest restaurant that’s still in the same family and still in its original Nags Head location is still going strong.

Long a popular tourist destination in Dare County, the town of Nags Head didn't become a town until 15 years after Owens' Restaurant opened in 1946.

In fact, when the Owens family moved from Roanoke Island to Nags Head in 1946, the spot wasn't even popular among tourists yet. One of the family's proudest achievements is serving the community from the same location for nearly 75 years.
