Hungry for a fun dining experience that takes you straight into the past? North Carolina has its fair share of nostalgic eateries. (Check out 12 mom and pop restaurants here.) Not many of them are decorated quite like Myra’s in Valdese, where you’ll find a world of fun decor that will take you back in time.
Located in an old Tasty Freeze restaurant (it's obvious from the start), Myra's is certainly one of the most colorful and interesting buildings in this tiny town.
While the outside is covered in food and ice cream embellishments, the inside sports a bevy of iconic images from the past. Marilyn Monroe, Betty Boop, and more are waiting to make you smile the minute you walk through the door.
The bright and airy dining room is a mixture of retro furniture covered in the colors of the day. Light blue booths line the walls and provide ample space to spread out and enjoy the delicious food.
Myra's has always been known for its giant burger. It costs a little more than the regular burger, but is well worth it when your appetite seems insatiable.
The 50-style eatery comes complete with a fried bologna sandwich on the menu (guaranteed to take you back to a summer day when you didn't have a care in the world!). The club sandwich is filled with all of the essentials and comes with potato chips.
Ready to check it out asap? Myra’s is open six days a week: Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Learn more from the official website here, and follow the Facebook page here.
