A summer trip to a primitive swimming hole in North Carolina may be just the thing you need to harken you back to your childhood for a day. And Jordan Lake is just the spot to make it happen. This more than 13,000-acre lake in the New Hope Valley features 180 undeveloped miles of shoreline with access provided by way of seven stellar Jordan Lake State Recreation Area access points all around the lake.
All but one of those access points features a swim area. And picking a single favorite access point is difficult, but one of our favorites is Ebenezer Church Access which features the beautiful Ebenezer Beach.
Ebenezer Church Access includes a large, sandy beach as well as picnic areas, a playground, two miles of trails, and restrooms in three different locations including one at the swim beach.
While swimming isn't an activity you can enjoy all year long, the Ebenezer Church Day-Use Access is open all year for other recreational purposes (like fishing, hiking, and picnicking).
Also noteworthy: five of the access points for Jordan Lake State Recreation Area boast a total of nearly 1,000 campsites ranging from primitive tent sites to full hookups for RVs.
