If you were one of the 250 people who attended the inaugural Lake James Ice Festival, in Nebo, North Carolina, last year, get ready for an even bigger magical ice extravaganza. Scheduled to start at 5 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2023, the second annual ice sculpture gala will again welcome ice sculptor Aaron Costic with his blazing chainsaw, bringing at least 40 unique works of ice art. This year’s celebration will highlight the new Lake James State Park Visitor Center inside and out, where you can expect delicious food and drinks, and cozy fire pits. The event lasts until 9 p.m. as the sunset is an integral part of revealing the astonishing details of these beautiful sculptures.
