Under Brown Mountain Lights the Beast of Blandenboro wanders this magical land where lighthouses shine on kingdoms only accessible by ferries. A Lost Colony of legends and pirates revealed in historical sites and majestic mountains with views that make us weep. The home of handmade sculptures and scrumptious cuisine. North Carolina leaves this long-time writer and artist breathless with endless surprises, including the unlikely warmth a winter walk on the beach can bring.
This little-known hiking path in North Carolina is a 2.3-mile out-and-back trail in the charming mountain village of Blowing Rock. The Glen Burney Trail showcases two waterfalls along its wooded borders with the potential for a third if you add on about an eighth of a mile. The trailhead sits near Annie Cannon Park with easy public access. This hike is surprisingly steep for being so close to town with a moderately rough surface, including rocks, roots, and drop-offs. Hiking shoes and trekking poles are recommended, especially after a rain or in the colder months that bring ice and snow. Let’s take a look at this lovely trail in North Carolina.
