Nothing beats the smell of baking bread, warm pastries piping hot out of the oven, and the sweet aroma you’ve arrived in one place amazingly capable of satisfying your sweet tooth. While there’s many fabulous bakeries throughout North Carolina, one literally takes the cake, especially if you love bread.
La Farm bakery is situated right in the heart of downtown Cary. Not far from Raleigh, Durham or Chapel Hill, La Farm was part of Cary's 'downtown' movement attracting both city dwellers and those who call this Raleigh suburb home.
While there's several scrumptious options (including brunch and lunch) many flock here for the bread. The hand-crafted loaves change daily and come in a variety of size, shapes, and flavors.
La Farm's master baker, Lionel Vatinet, is one of the highest quality bread producers and on one of the top bread baking consultants in America. In 2015 Lionel was recognized by James Beard Foundation as a semifinalist for "Outstanding Baker." At the age of 16 he joined France's prestigious Les Compagnons du Devoir, an artisans guild where his passion was first nurtured. Training under European bakers, eventually he received the title of Maitre Boulanger (Master Baker). His signature? Sourdough bread. If you've visited France or want a taste right here in North Carolina, La Farm pays homage to classic French baking methods mixed with America's spirit of invention and innovation.
Since we're speaking French, you also have to try one of the delicious macarons!
Looking for more than just a sweet indulgence? La Farm also operates as a cafe offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Indulge with the creme brûlée french toast for brunch or try a signature French dish like croque madame. There's also a large selection of 'scrambles,' sandwiches, salads, and even 'du jour' items for sharing.
From grabbing the best bread in North Carolina, a tasty lunch, or even treating your sweet tooth; La Farm is a well-kept secret that deserves praise for not only the amazing bread, but everything combined.
What a delicious little place! So quaint inside too! Have you been here before?
