The Outer Banks is filled with restaurants that are fun for everyone in the family. Among them is the eclectic and always fun pirate-themed eatery known as the Jolly Roger Restaurant. For those on vacation (or in our case a ‘stay-cation’) it’s the kind of place you’ll be sure to hit the minute you’ve arrived; and then you’ll be going back at least once before you leave.
After you cross over the Currituck Sound and onto the Outer Banks, you'll find it a few miles south on the right just sitting there like the crown jewel waiting to be discovered. (You can also cross over via Roanoke Island and then head northward.)
On the inside, you'll find just as much intrigue in the interior decor. On one post a (pirate)ship's figurehead (a mermaid) is now a permanent part of the eclectic decor.
But the mix of pirates and such isn't the only thing that makes people return again and again during their visit to the Outer Banks... the food is awesome!
So much so, that some people come for breakfast and then return the same day for lunch or dinner! Jolly Roger is the oldest Italian restaurant on the Outer Banks and their Italian pasta dishes are out of this world. They also create outstanding seafood dishes and their breakfast is the best around.
Jolly Roger also has a bar with still more amazing decor. Decorated windows give the illusion of stained glass and bring awesome light into the bar during the daylight hours.
Jolly Roger Restaurant is located at 1836 N Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948. It’s open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. til 2:00 a.m. Learn more from the restaurant’s official website.
