If you are looking for a unique way to spend your afternoon with your best friend — your dog, of course — look no further than Gold City Gem Mine where you and your pup can take part in the shop’s indoor and outdoor mining operations as you search for treasures. Located outside Franklin, North Carolina, Gold City Gem Mine has been operating for 25 years in the Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina.
One of the best parts about this mining adventure is that dogs are welcome here! Whether they want to "try their paw" at mining or simply spend time with you, your visit will be a unique and memorable one for you to share with your dog.
Besides mining, the Gold City Gem Mine also serves as a shop selling many of the gems found in their mines, as well as supplies for mining such as rock tumblers and tumbling stones.
When mining here, you will be sifting through gem dirt mined from the mine's 40 acres where the shop is located. People are always finding exciting gems at Gold City Gem Mine so stop by soon to try your luck.
Visitors have found rubies, sapphires, citrine, silver topaz, garnet, amethyst, emeralds, polite, tourmaline, ametrine, and peridot while mining here, and people always get to keep what they find!
Once you discover a gem, the Gold City Gem Mine has jewelers on site to help you identify the gem, and you can even have it professionally cut and put in a piece of jewelry.
The Mine is open from 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM seven days a week, so anytime you have a day off and want to take your dog along for a fun experience, head on over to try your hand at mining.
These days, it can be difficult to find an activity that allows you to bring your dog along, but the Gold City Gem Mine welcomes them. Have you been to the mine? What was your favorite gem you found?
