Walk, Cycle, Or Run The Trail At The Four Mile Creek Greenway In North Carolina

Finding places to enjoy the great outdoors in the Tar Heel State is rarely an issue. Everywhere you turn, there’s a wonderful spot to reconnect with Mother Nature, no matter what part of the state you’re in from the mountains all the way to the sea.

Over in the town of Matthews, found just south of Charlotte, for instance, there's a greenway trail that's part of the larger Carolina Thread network.

Four Mile Creek Greenway is brimming with freshness and versatility for a number of ways to engage on the trail.

You can bike, walk, or run this trail and there is plenty of room for everyone.

Surfaces along the trail vary, ranging from hard surface to natural and even elevated boardwalks.

You'll find some very relaxing places to rest and unwind.

The trail is 3.1 miles in length and easily can be walked in under two hours.

Runners find it's an easy way to get a quick three miles in, or six if doubling the distance.

Four Mile Creek passes through some suburban settings too, as it meanders in and out of a forest setting and into neighborhoods.

The trail connects downtown Matthews with Squirrel Park over near Interstate 485.
