Dads are pretty simple. Ask them what they want to do for Father’s Day and they’ll most likely say ‘nothing.’ But sometimes you just want to surprise, reward, or thank Dad for all of their hard work. Here are ten ideas to get the creative juices flowing if you’re wanting to make this Father’s Day extra special!
1. Take Dad to shoot some hoops at The Eric Montross Father's Day Basketball Camp
Held at the Dean E. Smith Center, this special opportunity allows fathers and their kids to bond, build teamwork strategies, learn coaching skills, and play some basketball! All proceeds go to the North Carolina Children's Hospital.
2. Take Dad for a relaxing, fun day of golf at Pinehurst
Enjoy a day of golf at 'the cradle of American Golf.' Pinehurst is home to a number of prestigious golf tournaments each year, make your own mini one on Father's Day.
3. Take Dad to see some sea creatures...from the safety of behind glass at the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher
Admission to the aquarium is FREE for all Dads on Father's day. The best part is that they will also be having a BBQ. You can check out some pretty neat ocean creatures, and get a good meal after! Kids and parents alike will love this one.
4. Take Dad down a manmade river, or zip line at The Whitewater Center
Just outside of Charlotte, The Whitewater Center is a guaranteed day of fun, perfect for the rafting novice or trained professional. Sounds like a great bonding activity!
5. Or go down a REAL body of water in a kayak, canoe, or boat!

A day on the water is actually quite easy to arrange in North Carolina. Depending on your location, renting a canoe, kayak, or boat is quite simple. Surprise dad with an outdoor adventure day and cookout after!
6. For the 21 and up, go on a brew tour with Dad!
There are some seriously amazing breweries throughout the state, OMB, NoDa, Birdsong, Foothills, Wicked Weed....to name a few. Tell dad to put the Budlight Down and soon enough you'll be drinking all sorts of craft IPA's and Stouts.
7. Dirty up those hiking boots and take a hike!
Plan a camping trip, cook dinner by the fire, cool off in a mountain stream, have Dad show you the ways of the world and being one with nature! Find your perfect hike here (https://oiys-develop.go-vip.net/north-carolina/fifteen-hikes-nc/)
8. Does Dad like jazz?
Father's day will be all that jazz if you're in Raleigh! Head over to the Father's Day Jazz Concert at the Raleigh Little Theatre.
9. Catch your dinner with Dad
You're never too young, or too old to go fishing with Dad. Cast those lines and talk about life while you wait for the first pull.
10. Or don't make Dad work for his food, just take him out for a nice meal.
One of those being the Father's Day Brunch at Raffaldini Vineyards. Note, this year it is sold out but cancellations do happen. Dad will love this one because you can enjoy a relaxed brunch overlooking the mountains, and bonus, Foreign Cars Italia of Charlotte with be there exhibiting some of their models. Although sold out, we have two good ideas here...take Dad to look at some foreign cars, you know, window shopping, followed by a delicious meal at his favorite restaurant.
