Under Brown Mountain Lights the Beast of Blandenboro wanders this magical land where lighthouses shine on kingdoms only accessible by ferries. A Lost Colony of legends and pirates revealed in historical sites and majestic mountains with views that make us weep. The home of handmade sculptures and scrumptious cuisine. North Carolina leaves this long-time writer and artist breathless with endless surprises, including the unlikely warmth a winter walk on the beach can bring.
A beautiful farm brewery in North Carolina, Fonta Flora Brewery in Nebo, utilizes an artisan approach that outputs not only delicious beer but a unique cultural experience. It is the combination of agriculture and zymurgy (a branch of applied chemistry that deals with fermentation processes), English tradition, and Belgian inspiration that makes these creations masterpieces. How great a treat to have tucked into our Appalachian Mountains. Perhaps the most intriguing part of this brewery is it is named after the lost town of Fonta Flora, supposedly sunken under the waters of the man-made Lake James in 1923. Is it a legend or a fact?
For more information about this farm brewery in North Carolina, visit the Fonta Flora website. In addition to the farm, two other locations exist in Charlotte and Morganton.
Read up on Lake James State Park and discover why it’s worth exploring. And get out on the water above the mysterious town on a houseboat you can reserve at Expedia.
