How many city parks in the Tar Heel State have amusement rides? The answer to that would be three, but they’re certainly not all as fantastic as this one in Raleigh. Pullen Park is a true gem among gems. With amusement rides including a carousel, a beautiful trail, and pedal boat rentals, this is one of the best family-friendly places in North Carolina. In addition to all the fun, there’s also a cafe with delicious food. Everyone can undoubtedly have a great time with a visit to Pullen Park.

With an opening year of 1887, the park not only boasts the title of oldest public park in the state but also the first public park to open in North Carolina.
Today its 66.4 acres sprawl to the west of downtown Raleigh situated between Western Boulevard, Pullen Road, Ashe Avenue, and Raleigh's historic Hillsborough Street.

To be honest, it's nearly impossible to find amusement rides like these that are so well maintained and so incredibly affordable. Tickets for any of the rides can be purchased at the park's ticket window and each ride is surprisingly affordable. A visit here without a scenic trip around the park on the C.P. Huntington Miniature Train (pictured) would not be complete for adults or youngsters.
Additionally, visitors can head over to the lake and pedal their way all around Lake Howell in one of the many pedal boats the park rents. The boats require four tickets for a one-half-hour cruise.
