Imagine the payoff after climbing 336 steps to the top of Crowders Mountain in Gastonia, North Carolina. The surprise — the out-and-back Backside Trail is only about two miles. Crowders Mountain State Park offers two grand mountain peaks with panoramic views. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the small wildlife along the way, including the little songbirds, colorful lizards, soft butterflies, and lovely mountain flowers.

Parking is accessible from Linwood Road where you'll find restrooms and picnic tables.
