The wild horses of Corolla are a magical thing, indeed. They roam freely on miles and miles of pristine North Carolina coastline and are majestic and beautiful. If you’ve never seen them, then perhaps this is the year you get to experience the magic.
Many people don't realize that, aside from getting in your own 4x4 vehicle and exploring the island's miles of dunes in search of the horses, you can opt to hire a tour company to make the venture a little easier — and much more enjoyable.
Sure, you could take your own 4x4 out and you MAY see one, but if you're on an actual tour and following a tour guide, then your chances of spotting a wild horse are greatly increased.
If an ATV is a little more rugged than you'd like, then take one of the tour company's Jeep Wranglers. With the proper reservation, you'll get your own Wrangler, and then follow a guide driving another.
If you'd prefer someone else do the driving, they also have a tour for that too, it's called the Wild Horse Adventure. Since all the tours focus on spotting the wild horses, be sure to ask for either your own ATV, your own Jeep Wrangler, or the Wild Horse tour where someone else drives.
