Stained glass, Victorian style architecture, and beautiful arches and chapels make these churches in Charlotte some of the prettiest around, and we’re sure they’ll take your breath away the moment you step into them.
1. Myers Park United Methodist Church
Myers Park United Methodist Church was founded in 1925 and is one of the most recognized landmarks in the city, standing at the corner of Queens and Providence Roads. The beautiful stonework and the elegant lines and arches of this church are especially captivating, and many people driving or walking by will slow their pace to take in this church's beauty. 2. Cathedral of St. Patrick
The Cathedral of St. Patrick is the Catholic Diocese of Charlotte's mother church and official Cathedral. Nestled in Charlotte's charming Dilworth neighborhood, this church consists of beautiful gray brick, amazing stained glass windows, and a brilliant copper roof that was installed in 2000. 3. Friendship Missionary Baptist Church
Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is a gorgeous brick building located on Beatties Ford Road. With a Sanctuary that holds up to 3,000 people and a beautiful Ruffatti organ built in Italy, this church is an amazing place to congregate and worship. 4. Sharon Presbyterian Church
Sharon Presbyterian Church is a charming brick church on Sharon Road that was founded in 1831 by a group of neighbors looking for a place to fellowship. 5. Calvary Church
Calvary Church is a non-denominational evangelical church that was founded in 1939 and whose location on Pineville-Matthews Road makes everyone who comes across it gasp in wonder. 6. St. Peter's Episcopal Church
St. Peter's Episcopal Church is a well-known landmark of Uptown Charlotte located on W. 7th Street. Its beautiful brick exterior and vibrant red doors create the most welcoming sight for those wandering by looking for a place of prayer. Address: 115 W 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28202
7. Covenant Presbyterian Church
Covenant Presbyterian Church is an awesome stone and brick establishment located in the heart of Dilworth on Morehead Street. 8. Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral is well-known by Charlotte locals and is the only Eastern Orthodox Cathedral in the State of North Carolina. Holy Trinity's exterior emphasizes typical Greek Architecture and is breathtaking with its large domes and strong crosses that top each tower of the church. 9. St. Peter's Catholic Church
St. Peter's Catholic Church is another Uptown Church that is a familiar building on S. Tryon Street. Located directly across from the Bechtler Museum of Art, the small brick church is a warm sight for those passing by each day. 10. First United Methodist Church
First United Methodist Church portrays a slightly Gothic style of architecture with its large columns and pointed arches over the doors. 11. Little Church on the Lane
The Little Church on the Lane is a tiny little Moravian Church in Elizabeth neighborhood. The church was founded in the 1920's and was one of the first churches ever built in its area. While small and simple, the church's brick exterior and cozy interior is beautifully peaceful and serene. Address: 522 Moravian Ln., Charlotte, NC 28207
12. Davidson College Presbyterian Church
While this church isn't technically in Charlotte, we had to put it on our list because of it's stunning surroundings. Davidson College Presbyterian Church is located about 30 minutes north of Charlotte on Davidson's beautiful college campus. With a collegiate style exterior and a beautiful college quad surrounding it, this church is a must see of you're looking for small-town charm. Address: 100 N Main St., Davidson, NC 28036
