After a long day at work, there’s nothing more peaceful than taking in a beautiful Charlotte sunset that paints the sky with hues of beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows.Luckily, our city has plenty of great places to catch these daily natural phenomenons. If you plan your day accordingly, you might be able to see a Charlotte sunset everyday from one of these great locations!
1. Lake Norman
There's often nothing more scenic than seeing the sun set over a beautiful body of water on a beautifully clear day. Lake Norman is a great place to catch a breathtaking Charlotte sunset that you will never forget. Watch the fiery orange sun create an amazing painting in the sky as you enjoy the gentle sounds and scenes of the lake.
2. U.S. National Whitewater Center
Many Charlotte residents have the luck of viewing the brilliant Charlotte sunset from the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Activities like paddleboarding, rafting, and ziplining are only more amazing when you get to see the glow of the sun setting behind the trees while enjoying your favorite outdoor adventure.
3. BB&T Ballpark
BB&T Ballpark is a wonderful place to not only catch a baseball game, but also an awesome sunset while the sun sets directly behind home plate. In the summer, many baseball fans enjoy the 7th inning stretch and the awesome sunset views at the same time.
4. The Peculiar Rabbit
The Peculiar Rabbit is a popular Charlotte restaurant in Plaza Midwood. With an awesome rooftop patio, the Peculiar Rabbit is a great spot to go for a drink or bite to eat with a view. If you time your visit just right, you might just catch the sun slowly sinking behind our goreeous city skyline.
5. Lake Wylie
Lake Wylie is another great Charlotte area lake where you can see beautiful sunsets. This particular shot was taken at Copperhead Island, which is an intimate little cove where you can go to get away from the more busy lake access spots.
6. McDowell Nature Center and Preserve
The McDowell Nature Center and Preserve is another awesome spot on Lake Wylie where you can view beautiful sunsets. A 1,132 acre preserve that offers hiking, camping, and nature tours, this preserve is the oldest in Charlotte and protects the beautiful terrain of the area.
7. City Lights
City Lights is an amazing rooftop bar in Charlotte known for their skyline views. The sunsets here are beautiful, especially when served with an awesome little drink called the Sparkle & Pop, which is a popsicle turned upside down in a glass of champagne. Is there any better way to enjoy a city sunset then with a glass of bubbly? We didn't think so.
8. Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit is a 21st floor restaurant known for their swanky rooftop bar complete with views, firepits, and a fully stocked bar. Fahrenheit is situated above Skye Condos at 222 S. Caldwell Street and is one of the best places in Charlotte to see the sunset view of Uptown.
9. CPCC Parking Deck at Kings Drive and 7th Street
At the corner of 7th Street and Kings Drive, there is a parking deck that is extremely popular with local photographers and city artists. The top floor offers amazing views of the city and is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful place to watch the sunset.
10. Lake Gaston
Last but not least, Lake Gaston offers another lakeside view of the sunset - a view that never gets old. This image of the red-orange sun setting above the still water is one we will never forget... and hope to see every chance we get!
