We can’t wait to attend the eerie ghost tours in New Bern, the pumpkin sale, the Halloween parade, and other Halloween events in New Bern. Theodosia Burr Alston, the daughter of Aaron Burr, might be one still lingering around the city. Over 200 years ago one early January, a ship called The Patriot on which she was traveling, sunk off the coast of North Carolina and was never seen again. Alston and the portrait of herself she was bringing to her father went down with the ship.
Only a month apart, it was yellow fever that sadly killed them in 1789.

Another spot with paranormal activity comes from September of 1711, when the Tuscarora launched a sneak attack on the New Bern settlement, leaving more than 100 people dead.

A popular place to buy pumpkins in New Bern is the Christ Churchyard. People go to play games, picnic, and buy pumpkins supplied by the Navajo Nation in New Mexico.
