What could be better to chase away the winter blues than a sea of orchids? Orchids have captivated humans for ages and this is your chance to see them in droves as scores of orchid growers and vendors descend upon the North Carolina Arboretum for a two-day orchid festival, Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5, 2020.
Did you know there are an estimated 22,000 to 26,000 species of orchids? There's even an orchid that grows entirely underground and is pollinated by ants! For a novice or learned enthusiast, there will be so much to appreciate and learn at the upcoming Asheville Orchid Festival.
In addition to visiting the many vendor booths and admiring the orchid varieties on your own, you can also join a walking tour and learn all about the orchids from expert guides.
Attend a program about the native orchids to western North Carolina, or sign up for the repotting clinic, among other special events and programs at the festival.
The Arboretum charges a $16 parking fee for non-members, so keep that in mind when planning. Tickets for the Orchid Festival are $5 (at the door) for those age 13 and over. Children 12 and under are free.
Mark your calendar for the annual Orchid Festival taking place in a few short weeks at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville.
