There’s a short period during the fall season when the apple harvest overlaps with the timing of the pumpkin harvest, and to find a farm and orchard that has both is a win-win. A visit to Grandad’s Apples N’ Such in Hendersonville this time of year is a must for families seeking a fun, family adventure.
In western North Carolina, the apple harvest season begins as early as June in some years and stretches well into October as different varieties become ripe on the trees throughout the season.
For most of the summer and well into October each year, visitors can pull ripe apples right from the trees in Grandad's orchard. However, by mid-October, the u-pick season comes to a close with farm-picked apples still available at the farm store and bakery.
Delicious apple donuts, turnovers, slushies, and more are available throughout the season all the way up until closing day.
Even mom and dad will enjoy a scenic pass through parts of the farm.
When it comes to fall in North Carolina, a visit to an apple orchard is a must for families with kids – and going after mid-October yields some special Halloween fun as well. Learn more from Grandad’s Apples’ official website!
