Depending on where inside the Empire State you call home, you may be familiar with the sounds of howling wolves in your backyard or even the sight of a fox making its way across one of your trail cameras. If you’ve ever longed to get a more up close and personal look at wildlife like this, then it’s time to get yourself acquainted with the Wolf Mountain Nature Center that’s right out here in Central New York!
In the center of New York, where you're not too far from plenty of popular towns and cities, the Wolf Mountain Nature Preserve is one of the best day trips you can take in our state.
Since originally opening up back in 2006, the non-profit organization has done amazing work with educating visitors on the animals that you'll see here, as well as other endangered species.
Throughout the year, visitors can come and get an up close look at all of the different animals that call this more than 9-acre nature center their home.
A family-friendly adventure that you won't want to forget your camera for, tours of the center depart from the Welcome Cabin, where then after you'll get to experience an hour long tour and visit with each of the animals.
To make your trip to the Wolf Mountain Nature Center all the more enjoyable, you can plan your outing around upcoming well-loved activities like their Wolves and Watermelons and Honoring the Spirit of the Wolf events.
Here at Wolf Mountain Nature Preserve, every year you'll have the chance to reserve your own spot for one of their Camping with the Wolves weekends or even a stay in one of their tepees. Whoa!
That's right, this place offers you the opportunity to spend the night on the grounds, where you'll get to assist the caretakers with feeding the animals, go on a guided hike, sit around the campfire, and so much more.
