Twin Star Orchards is the home of Brooklyn Cider House, a cidery based in New Paltz that has become well-known in the region, from upstate to the heart of New York City. The cidery’s Brooklyn location closed this past summer, but if you head to New Paltz, you can get an up-close and personal look at the operation behind one of the most successful cideries in the state. When apple-picking, pizza, and views of the Hudson Valley make up the itinerary, you know you’re in for a fun day.
The founders of Brooklyn Cider House purchased this apple orchard in 2015 and went to work on making it the core of their vision for excellent hard cider. Now there are more than 50 acres of 8,000 apple trees on the 200-acre farm.
Peter Yi, a wine buyer, founded the cidery in 2014 with his sister Susan. Six years later, Twin Star Orchards is not only home to a successful cidery and orchard, but a tasting room, restaurant, and store as well.
Wood-fired pizzas and burgers are now staples of the Twin Star Orchards experience. Cider is their forte, but now Twin Start Orchards has become almost as famous for its delicious meals that are waiting for visitors after a long day of apple-picking.
While the orchard will be open until November, it’s best to plan a weekend getaway to Twin Star Orchards while the weather is still fairly mild. When you’re there, check out the charming city of New Paltz, or even take a trip to the incredible Mohonk Preserve.
