The Finger Lakes Region is known for its lakes, first and foremost, but it is also an area that is well known for its many wineries. Thanks to the many miles of shoreline along these lakes, it’s no surprise that there are quite a few wineries with beautiful waterfront views in this region.
One special winery that you might consider visiting during a visit to central New York is Lakeshore Winery on Cayuga Lake. This small, independent, family-owned winery offers wine tastings and would love for you to stop by and visit. Read on to learn more about it.
Lakeshore Winery in Romulus is located on a farm that dates back to 1825. The property's original barn is historic and beautiful and is the perfect setting for wine tastings.
The current owners, John and Annie Bachman, have been operating the winery since they purchased the property in 1994. They bought it from the winery founders, Bill and Doris Brown, who started the business in 1982. This is one of the oldest wineries on Cayuga Lake.
Cayuga Lake is the second largest of the Finger Lakes after Seneca Lake. Although the winery is actually across Route 89 from the lakefront, the lake is still easily accessible and the views are spectacular. If you wish to visit the winery by boat, there's a dock where you can tie up.
Lakeshore Winery is on the western shore of the lake. The lake is dazzling and serene at any time of day, but if you get there early, you can watch the sun rise over the lake.
After your wine tasting, you will probably want to pick up a few bottles of Lakeshore Winery's wine to bring home. You can choose from whites, reds, or blushes. There are discounts available if you buy six or more bottles.
As you can see, Lakeshore Winery is a great way to spend a warm New York day in the spring, summer, or fall. You’ll love the wines and the hospitality here and you’ll love the views of the lake. Stop on by Lakeshore Winery on your next visit to the Finger Lakes. The Bachmans can’t wait to meet you!
