Jumpin’ Jack’s Drive-In, Inc. is an icon. This roadside stop in New York has been serving and feeding eager, local patrons for more than 60 years. It’s only open in the summertime, and that makes it even more special. Generation after generation has loaded up the car to head on down to Jumpin’ Jacks, and that tradition doesn’t look like it will come to an end any time soon. Jumpin' Jacks Drive-In, Inc. is located on the banks of the Mohawk River right where Scotia begins. It's right across the river from Schenectady, so people from both cities consider it "theirs," but it's definitely on the Scotia side.
This iconic drive-in restaurant first opened in this location in 1956. Initially, it was called The Charcoal Pit. The original building was replaced in 1959 and that's still the main building that's in use today.
Throughout the summer, this roadside stop is open for lunch and dinner every day. It can get very busy at times, but the service is always fast and friendly.
The menu is quite large and everything is cooked to perfection. You'll also be surprised at how affordable everything is at Jumpin' Jack's. You might as well get one of everything at these prices.
Lots of people come to Jumpin' Jack's for ice cream and other cold treats in the heat of the summer. You can get a milkshake, a slushy, soft serve ice cream, banana splits, and more.
Once you have your food, you should check out the entertainment. Jumpin' Jack's has been offering waterskiing shows on the river since 1967. Since 1986, it has been the official home to the U.S. Water Ski Show Team.
Also, Jumpin' Jack's does a July 4th fireworks show every year. It's a great place to celebrate America, since Jumpin' Jack's Drive-In, Inc. is truly an all-American experience.
