All of New York transforms into a winter wonderland during this time of year, but some destinations become even more charming than ever imaginable once the snow starts falling and everything has frozen over. Taking you up north to the mountains where you’ll have all sorts of opportunities to enjoy every kind of winter activity possible, there’s one attraction that only comes to life during this season of the year and you can’t miss out on it. Unlike anything else you’ll find in the surrounding areas, see why a ride down this toboggan chute will make your winter complete.
As you stroll through the village of Lake Placid during wintertime, you'll see people out on Mirror Lake going for dog sled rides, walks along the frozen water, and ice skating their way through the mountains.
Taking you up a total of 30-feet, this toboggan chute is much more than your average sledding experience - this track actually sends you out onto the frozen lake!
A ride that whole family will get a kick out of, those who decide to go for a ride down this toboggan chute will have the opportunity to go flying out up to 1,000-feet onto Mirror Lake.
Just one of many reasons to head up to Lake Placid before we say farewell to winter, see what it's like to go flying out onto Mirror Lake while you're on toboggan this year.
So, how does this all work? Well, you'll find toboggans rentals available right at the chute's location in the village - with toboggans holding anywhere from two to four people. In order for the chute to be up and operating, there must be at least 10 to 12 inches of solid on Mirror Lake.
