With the month of June just around the corner, summer will soon be in full swing and before we know it we’ll be ready to hit the road once again. The perfect time to take a road trip, there’s a small town out in Western New York that starts to come to life once it’s most popular attractions open up for the year during Memorial Day Weekend. Ready to spend the day by the water? Then let’s head out to Niagara County to enjoy some small town charm.
Right out along Lake Ontario less than an hour away from Niagara Falls, the teensy town of Olcott has so much to offer.
Also known as Olcott Beach, the waterfront town is only home to just over 1,200 residents.
Featuring never-ending waterfront views of Lake Ontario, visitors of this small town love getting to relax by the water.
When the water is suitable for visitors, Olcott Beach opens for the year and even has lifeguards on duty.
But one of the main reasons that families love to head out to Olcott is because it has its own vintage theme park.
Known as Olcott Beach Carousel Park, the park will open for the season on Memorial Day Weekend this year.
Made up of vintage rides that have been restored and are full of history, the best part about Carousel Park is that the rides will only cost you 25 cents!
Taking you back to the good old days, you can go inside to enjoy a game of Skee-Ball, ride the historic carousel, and so much more.
When you're done enjoying the vintage park, you can enjoy a more relaxing pace and do some shopping at the Lakeview Village Shoppes.
The vibrantly colored shops are easy to find on Ontario Street and are open 7 days a week during Memorial Day through Labor Day and have everything from places to eat to boutiques to shop around in.
Speaking of places to eat, if there's one little shop that you stop by - you must make it Bye's Popcorn! A little stand that's been open since the early 1920s and serves up amazingly delicious gourmet popcorn.
When you're in Olcott and looking to have a quiet day under the sun, you can head to Krull Park - an over 300-acre park in town that's open all year long and is great for picnicking and hanging by the water.
Something to also keep in mind? Aside from all of the amazing attractions in town, Olcott also hots a ton of exciting events all throughout the year that will help keep you busy.
So, who's ready to spend the day by the water and enjoy everything about Olcott?
If you're looking to plan a trip around one of Olcott's small-town events, then keep in mind that some of our favorite events are right around the corner!
