Are you ready to have a frightfully delightful evening? Fans of Halloween will be absolutely thrilled with The Merry Shelley. This new bar in Buffalo is a literary-themed, Gothic horror experience that will enchant and spook you like nowhere else.

The bar is small, seating about 40. (There is also a patio outside for larger groups to spread out). Since it's a library bar, it isn't noisy like a traditional club.

You won't have to raise your voice over screaming fans or a loud football match in here.
The Merry Shelley goes all in with the creepy aesthetic, with fake bats and cobwebs everywhere. We love the dedication to the theme!

This bar doesn't carry run-of-the-mill bar offerings such as martinis and screwdrivers. But don't fret, there are a number of fantastic options, including beer, non-alcoholic drinks, or the bar's specialty: absinthe.

Absinthe is a highly concentrated form of alcoholic spirit that is distilled with various herbs. The taste is different depending on what region the recipe is from. The Merry Shelley carries some local absinthe from Brooklyn, as well as a few European varieties.

You'd never believe this used to be a sports bar. The transition to gothic bar was complete with the addition of this beautiful Frankenstein-themed mural. It's certainly fitting, since the bar is named after the book's author.
