The 2,880-acre Hinckley Reservoir is located in Herkimer County and is managed by the New York State Department of Conservation. This reservoir is in the southwest corner of Adirondack Park near the town of Cold Brook and is only a half an hour from Utica. The Hinckley Reservoir Day Use Area is very popular with locals and has been for many years. However, a change is coming! Soon, the Hinckley Reservoir Day Use Area will be upgraded and developed as a 150-site campground. Read on to learn more.
It’s official! As of Spring 2022, the development of this campground has been approved and is moving forward. There is no estimated date of completion available yet. In the meantime, you can visit Hinckley Reservoir and spend time in the day use area. When you do, you’ll be able to get a good idea about what to expect when the campground is eventually complete.
