Way up north where you’ll find nothing but mountains and spectacular places to relax, there are handfuls of charming towns that you’ll love to visit. You already know about popular destinations like Lake Placid and Old Forge, but there’s one more town you should make a point to explore that may have fallen under your radar.
Head up to the Adirondacks and in Essex County you'll discover the beautiful town of Elizabethtown.
Featuring two major drops that total roughly 70-feet in height, the falls can be found just off of Route 9 and is a popular spot to cool off during the summer.
Those who are looking to learn more about the area's fascinating past can visit the town's former school building, now home to the Adirondack History Center Museum!
An inexpensive and rewarding place to check out, the museum has lots of intriguing exhibits to check out and even features its own Colonial Garden that was created back in 1956.
While it's nice to take an adventure in town, one of our favorite laid-back activities is to visit the Adirondack Farmers Market that's held in town behind the museum now through October 6th on Fridays from 9AM to 1PM.
If you find yourself falling in love with Elizabethtown and want to extend your stay, embrace the Adirondack lifestyle and go camping at Lincoln Pond Campsite.
In town you can find Bed & Breakfast locations that will charm the socks right off of you. But those who are looking to dive into the outdoors and see what the Adirondacks are all about should set up camp at the Lincoln Pond Campsites. The campground has canoe, kayak and rowboat rentals available for those who are interested in getting out on the water and even has a beautiful beach that's worth checking out.
