New Yorkers have plenty of options when it comes to beating the summer heat, whether it’s by running through your sprinkler in the backyard, heading to the local public pool, or finding a natural body of water nearby that you can wade in. But there’s one place where you can hang out in the water that you might not have heard of.

First put in the river back in 2007, the 20-foot pool is partially submerged into the water and has walls and a floor that allows the river water to flow right through the pool. Only two and a half feet deep, the River Pool is perfect for families who are looking for a unique place to cool off during the summer. Soon to be set up for the summer season before you know it, the River Pool right in the town of Beacon enters the river in early July and stays there through Labor Day.
