Down in Binghamton, people from all over New York can make their way out to a modern-day speakeasy, 205 Dry, that’s literally hiding in plain sight. If you’re looking to get a true taste of the past though, you’ll want to start planning a visit to Utica! What was long abandoned on Liberty Street in this small Empire State city has steadily become one of the area’s best dining destinations since opening up only a handful of years ago. If you’re ready to explore the best of both worlds, then keep scrolling to see what it’s like to dine at this restored speakeasy.
Easy to find right along the roadside in Utica, Gerber's 1933 Tavern is one of the many gems you can discover in our historic Bagg's Square.
What was once a speakeasy in town would eventually be left abandoned for roughly 40-years until it would be bought by its current owners and transformed into Gerber's 1933 Tavern.
Whether you sit up at the gorgeous bar or find yourself a seat at one of the tables, you can't go wrong with taking the time to explore Gerber's food menu.
As you scan over the menu, you'll see delicious things like their famed Dill Pickle Soup, Meatballs, Tavern Fried Bologna, Classic Reuben Sandwiches, Grilled Cheese, and their beloved Hot Pastrami Sandwich.
While others will make note of their Half-Pound Angus Beef Burgers that are served on a toasted bun with cheese, lettuce, onions, tomato, chips, a pickle, and a side of your choosing. Yum!
