If you’re getting tired of eating at all the same old restaurants over and over, many of which look and feel almost the same, then you should give the Post Office Cafe in Babylon a try. This unique restaurant has been open for more than 40 years and is located inside an old post office. Read on to learn more about it and to take a look inside!
Post Office Cafe is located at 130 West Main Street in Babylon. The building was constructed in the 1930s; it served as a United States Postal Service location for several decades until a larger one was built nearby.
Owner Jack Lessing bought the property from a friend who was using the space to teach new bartenders their trade. He converted it into the popular dining establishment that it has been ever since. In the conversion, he kept many post office features that patrons can still see today.
This restaurant is known for its thick, juicy burgers. Pictured here is the Classic Burger, but the Post Office Cafe offers four other burgers as well: the Shroom N' Swiss, the California Dreamin', the Smokehouse, and the All American.
If you like fish, you'll love the fish and chips. Other from-the-sea options include Roasted Scottish Salmon, Jumbo Shrimp Pasta, and Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos.
And, if you're looking for something even healthier, Post Office Cafe's Buddha Bowls are excellent. They're made with quinoa, brussels sprouts, chickpeas, sweet potato, cauliflower, avocado, red pepper-cilantro vinaigrette. You can add chicken, steak, shrimp, or salmon if you'd like.
You'll love this restaurant and bar. If you live nearby, you'll likely want to make this a regular spot of yours. Post Office Cafe can't wait to serve you!
