Canopus Lake is located off of Route 301, 9 miles east of the small Village of Cold Springs, New York. In the Hudson Valley region, there are limited selections for lake swimming, so this man-made lake is treasured by local residents. Canopus Lake is a 1.5 mile lake that is situated within Fahnestock State Park, which is 14,086 acres in total.

Canopus lake offers great fishing options, too. You can catch Largemouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, Brown Bullhead, Bluegill, Black Crappie and Yellow Perch. Statewide fishing regulations apply. There are trails on the perimeter of the lake which work well for anglers.
